About - Westhill House Day Nursery

We are Westhill House…

We provide care with education for children up to the age of five years. Based in Kings Norton, Birmingham we were first established in 2009, maintaining good and outstanding outcomes by Ofsted proudly for 17 years.

We place our children, their families, the team and the community at the centre of our practice and aspirations.

At Westhill House we meet the holistic needs of each individual child in our care by fostering strong emotional connections, give children a sense of safety and security and build on their belief that they are capable of anything!

Environments and interactions with the team facilitate learning through play, where encouragement for exploration, investigation, trying and persisting are the foundations...

A Healthy Lifestyle

Here at Westhill House we strive for all children to lead a healthy lifestyle, this includes providing nutritious meals, the children access physical daily activity and we encourage positive hygiene and sleep routines. We promote reducing sedentary screen time, the practicing of good oral health and ensure active play. Our menu provides four weeks of differentiated, balanced meals and snacks, all of which are prepared and cooked on site. Furthermore, mealtimes are social times where children sit together, are encouraged to use cutlery, build on their independence skills and try new foods without pressure¡Kall whilst having a chat or listening to a story. Milk and water are available throughout the day and we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage nutrition guidance as we believe that developing these habits and routines early, reduces the risk of obesity, builds physical strength, improves emotional well-being and sets the foundation to a healthy life. The safe and effective management of Allergies, Intolerances and Preferences is a part of our daily practice. We have embedded systems in place to keep children safe during mealtimes or in the environment if they have environmental allergies. Staff routinely participate in First Aid training, that includes emergency responses and administration of emergency medication.
